The USS Carl Vinson is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier that was launched on March 13, 1980 and commissioned on March 13, 1982. The carrier is 1,092 feet long, 134 feet wide, and displaces over 91,000 tons when fully loaded. The Carl Vinson can carry 86 aircraft and has a combined crew and aircrew of almost 6,000 sailors.
