Known as "The Grey Ghost," this is the second ship to bear the name USS Hornet in World War II and was NOT the ship that launched the Doolittle Raid against Japan in 1942.
This USS Hornet was launched on August 30, 1943 and was commissioned on November 29, 1943. It displaces 27,100/33,000 tons (standard/full), is 876 feet long and 147 feet wide, and has a 23 foot draft. The USS Hornet (CV-12)received the Presidential Unit Citation and seven battle stars for service in World War II.
This beautiful, mint condition print measures 11" x 17" and is personally signed and dated by the artist.
