Jackson referred to the four artillery pieces pictured as "his disciples." Their carriages were originally painted red and are shown as they probably would have looked after having weathered a year in combat. Today the guns can be found on the grounds of the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. Only recently were they refurbished and their carriages restored to their original red coloration.
