It is September 1940 and the Battle of Britain is reaching its crescendo as the Me109s of l./JG52, with their bright yellow noses glinting in the sun, gather speed and altitude as they form up shortly after takeoff from their base at Coquelles, near Calais. Led by Hauptmann Wolfgang Ewald, the Scharwm settle into their loose, finger-four formation, the pilots alert for danger and ready for yet another raid on England, just a few miles across the Channel.
Robert Taylor's classic new limited edition "DAWN EAGLES RISING" commissioned as the second in a series with the recently released Height and Sun, is published in tribute to the fighter pilots of the Luftwaffe during World War II. This masterful print from the world's premier aviation artist constitutes a unique record for aviation collectors and lovers of military history alike. It follows the release of his popular RAF Hurricane tribute "Height and Sun" and Luftwaffe Me109 tribute "DAWN EAGLES RISING." (NOTE: The third release in the series, "OPENING SKY," is available from us separately. If you purchase both prints you will receive a like-numbered set.)
In addition to the artist this print was signed by EIGHTEEN of the Luftwaffe's most esteemed day and night fighter pilots:
