The USS George Washington, the first of the George Washington Class fleet ballistic missile submarines, was commissioned on December 30, 1959 and decommissioned on January 24, 1985, after over 25 years of dedicated service. It was 381 feet long and 33 feet wide at the beam and displaced 5,959, tons on the surface and 6,709 tons submerged. This magnificent nuclear powered submarine carried 16 Polaris missiles and stood at the forefront of America's defense during the Cold War.
This beautiful, mint condition print measures 11" x 17" and is personally signed and dated by the artist.
